Stade Rennais Online

M’Vila for one more year

Announced last night, Yann M’Vila contract extension for at the Stade Rennais, until 2015, has been officialised by the club this Monday morning. A vote of continuity and faithfulness in the Rennes project from the young international, who will therefore remain in Brittany for at least one more season. Also an opportunity for the club to allow themselves a good financial operation.

Announced late yesterday evening by RMC, the news were soon officialised by the club, and will give some solace to the supporters after the mediocre performance showed last Saturday.
By extending M’Vila’s contract as soon as today, Stade Rennais will earn some tranquillity for this summer, with a player who has now affirmed his will to remain in Brittany. A luxury for the club, considering the interest of Europe’s greatest clubs for the midfielder throughout the season. Except for an unexpected twist or a colossal offer, the Real Madrid, Liverpool, Bayern Munich or Manchester United will have to wait at least one more year before competing for the transfer of the young international.

For Yann M’Vila, continuity has been privileged, with a wish to continue working with the coach who offered him his trust during the last two seasons. The young Rennes midfielder is happy to admit it, the perspective of avoiding a potentially tricky experience, just a year before Euro 2012, was also an incentive to his decision. Finally, M’Vila’s contract extension is followed by a very interesting salary increase, which should make him one of the best-paid members of the squad and confirm his status as a leader earned on the pitch and through his caps with “Les Bleus”

Despite these concessions on the player’s salary, Stade Rennes can also profit of this operation on financial grounds. Indeed, beyond the sportive benefits, the club also paves the way to a good financial operation, when they will decide to let their midfielder go, probably in summer 2012.
With three years of contract worth more than two, the transfer fee requested by Stade Rennes could therefore be substantially more important than it would have been without the contract extension. A consideration, which could somehow sound absurd, but which is a component of the speculation game played by the clubs since years.
