Ligue 1, Stade Rennais 1 - 1 Lyon. After a good start to the game and an early goal from Erding, Rennes was caught back in the second half, having failed to capitalise on their many dangerous opportunities to make the break. History repeats itself.
Ligue 1, Stade Rennais - Lyon, Sunday, 21:00 CET. Now clearly out of the race for third place, Stade Rennes wants to keep some hopes for the end of the season and remain in contention for a European ticket through the league. Before facing OL, Frédéric Antonetti has called a squad of eighteen players, including the young Kamal Issah.
Ligue 1, Valenciennes 1 - 0 Stade Rennais. Behind from the first minutes of the game after Danic score a penalty, Rennes never seemed able to come back in a game poor both in chances and technical quality. The Bretons see their hopes to clinch a European position through the league diminish rapidly.
Coupe de France, Valenciennes 1 - 3 Stade rennais. Stade Rennes will play the semi-finals of the Coupe de France. Frédéric Antonetti’s players have logically won a game they dominated solidly. Despite the equaliser from the Northerners at the half-hour, Romain Danzé’s team-mates finally managed to affirm their superiority in the second half.
Ligue 1, Stade rennais 0 - 1 Toulouse. Smothered by a Toulouse team showing solid in defence and dominating at midfield, the Rouge et Noir did not show much in their show-down against a direct competitor for European places. And the Bretons were eventually hit by bad fortune, when Danzé countered an inoffensive shot by Rivière in his own goal.
Ligue 1, Stade Rennais 1 - 1 Auxerre. Having gone behind early in the match, in spite of their domination, Rennes played catch-up for most of the match. They couldn’t get better than a draw, despite having a lot of chances.
Ligue 1, Stade Rennais - Auxerre, Sunday 17:00. Back in the race for European positions, Stade Rennais will try to manage a second consecutive success against Auxerre this Sunday. In this aim, Frédéric Antonetti will be able to rely on a nearly complete squad.
Ligue 1, Lorient 0 - 2 Stade rennais. Dominated in the first half of its derby against Lorient, Stade Rennes finally left the Moustoir as winners. Thanks to the inefficiency of the Morbihannais striker in the first place, and then thanks to some clinical finishing. The Rennais are climbing up the table and back in fourth place.
After an intense game against Lille, Stade Rennes will make the short trip to their struggling neighbour Lorient, this Sunday. The Rouge et Noir are facing a very committed derby. Main issue for Rennes, the internationals on duty earlier this week are either “very tired or even injured”, according to Frédéric Antonetti.
Ligue 1, Lorient - Stade Rennais, Sunday 21:00 CET. Without Erding and Kana-Biyik as well as Apam, suspended, Antonetti is left with reduced options in defence. The Corsican will also have to reconsider his plans in attack, where Hadji could be starting at centre-forward.
Ligue 1, Stade Rennais 1 - 1 Lille OSC. Rennes snatched something of a moral victory. After a very good first half hour, the Bretons received a double knock with the dismissal of Apam followed by Lille’s goal at the end of the first half, before equalising through Erding in the last minutes of regular time.
Ligue 1, Stade rennais - Lille, Sunday 21:00 CET. Frédéric Antonetti has called a group of eighteen players to face the defending champions, Lille. Respectively suffering with ankle and foot injuries, Kader Mangane and Tongo Doumbia are unavailable for tonight’s game.
After having conceded four goals in Saint-Étienne, Stade Rennais will be hosts to Lille, one of the best attacks in Ligue 1, this Sunday. Not reassuring for a contender for European places, but Rennes is possibly showing the signs of a new way of playing.
Five players have started at right back this season under Frédéric Antonetti’s management. While Romain Danzé, the initial first choice, has seen his status being put in jeopardy over the last two weeks, several options appear. For one slot only.
Ligue 1, Saint-Étienne 4 - 0 Stade Rennais. After a balanced first half, Rennes has completely collapsed in the second half at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard, conceding three more goals. Because of a really efficient and clinical Saint-Etienne, but also of a really shaky Rennes defence.
Ligue 1, Saint-Étienne - Stade Rennais, Sunday 17:00 CET. Frédéric Antonetti has called a group of twenty one players for the trip in the Forez. Back from the AfCoN, Boye is one of them, as well as Boukari, returning from injury. Foulquier, also in the squad, is expected to start on Sunday.
Squad competition is fully effective. Before travelling to Saint-Etienne on Sunday, nearly every player of the Stade Rennais will have to “give it all” in order to be guaranteed a starting slot.
Ligue 1, Stade Rennais 1 - 0 Sochaux. Rennes needed to win in order to remain in competition with the leading teams. Yann M’Vila and his team-mates managed it, despite a few frights, by inflicting Sochaux their eleventh defeat of the season, thanks to the first goal by Mevlüt Erding with his new team. A victory that allows Stade Rennes to get nearer to the podium, profiting of the defeat of Lyon earlier in the day against Caen.
Ligue 1, Stade rennais - Sochaux, Saturday 18:00 CET. To face Sochaux this Saturday, Frédéric Antonetti has called a squad identical to this that beat Évian TG last Tuesday. For the same result?
Coupe de France, Stade rennais 3 - 2 Evian TG. In a freezing night, Stade Rennes finally saw off a tough team of Evian Thonon Gaillard and managed qualification for the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France. Frédéric Antonetti’s players suffered until the last minute however, and saw the team from Savoie come back with a chance, despite a three-goals advantage.
Coupe de France, Stade Rennais - Évian, Tuesday 18:00 CET. In order to try and reach the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France, Frédéric Antonetti called a group similar to the nineteen men who made the trip to Nancy last Saturday, to one exception: Yassine Jebbour is replaced by Dimitri Foulquier.
Ligue 1, Nancy 0 - 0 Stade rennais. In difficult conditions, Stade Rennais didn’t shine but still manage to salvage a draw from their trip to Nancy. After a lively and balanced first half, the second was more difficult for the Rennais, who never managed to find a way round the Nancéiens.
Ligue 1, Nancy - Stade Rennais, Saturday 15:00 CET. In order to keep up with the leading pack, Stade Rennais must win in Lorraine or see the European positions drift away. With this objective in Mind, Mevlüt Erding, arrived just over a week, should be offered his first start with the Stade Rennais.
Despite the defeat against Marseille, the Rouge et Noir are convinced they can manage an European place, or even better. Explanations before the trip to Nancy next Saturday.
Departures. After a year and a half in Brittany, Georges Mandjeck is leaving the Rouge et Noir and moving to Burgundy. The Cameroonese failed to become a first team regular in Rennes, because o a strong competition, and of some difficult relationships.
Ligue 1, Stade rennais 1 - 2 Marseille. Exciting in the first half, Stade Rennais paid the strong price for its mistakes in Marseille. Not clinical enough when they could have extended their lead after Doumbia scored the opener, the Rennais then saw Marseille come back and win the game following collective mistakes by the Rouge et Noir.
Ligue 1, Stade rennais - Marseille, Sunday 21:00 CET. Arrived in Rennes this week, Mevlüt Erding will be the main attraction of this game against Olympique Marseille. The French-Turkish striker could even start the game in attack.
Before the reception of Marseille on Sunday, Yann M’Vila, the Stade Rennais international is in great form. With the Rouge et Noir, he targets the third place in Ligue 1 and vows to win the Coupe de France “and enter in the club’s history”.
Transfer. After several months of waiting, Stade Rennes has finally completed the transfer of Mevlüt Erding. The new Rennes number 9 is eagerly awaited in Brittany, considered by many as the “missing link” in attack. Lacking playing time in Paris, he will need to regain confidence and enthusiasm with the Rouge et Noir.
Coupe de France, Nice 0 - 0 Stade rennais (4-5 pen.). Despite a lack of imagination in attack, Frédéric Antonetti obtained their qualification for the next round through a penalty-shootout session. Unable to score during the hundred and twenty minutes of regular time, Stade Rennes made the difference with a decisive save by the spotless Benoît Costil. Once again.
