Boukari at Rennes this Monday

Stade Rennes announced this Sunday evening that they had reached an agreement with RC Lens regarding the transfer of Razak Boukari. The attacking midfielder will undergo the traditional medical on Monday morning and then join his new team-mates for the mid-season camp planned by Frédéric Antonetti and his staff.

As expected, Lens’ Razak Boukari will be the first Rennes recruit in this 2010-2011 winter transfer window. This Sunday evening, Stade Rennes announced that they had found an agreement for the transfer of the player.

Aged 23, Boukari arrives to reinforce an attacking line weakened by the departures of Gyan and Bangoura since last summer. A Togo international after he had played for French U21, Boukar started his career at la Berrichonne de Châteauroux, where he received his training.

After starting professional football in Ligue 2 aged only 17 years, he was recruited in 2006 by Racing Club de Lens. In Artois, he imposed himself as a regular starter, playing over 140 games with the “sang et or”.

Targeted by Stade Rennes since numerous years, Boukari had already been linked with a move to Rennes this autumn, when the club looked to recruit a joker. However, the offer submitted by Rennes had been met with a strict refusal from RC Lens, not really keen on seeing one of their best players leave the club.

Stuck in financial difficulties, the Artesian club was finally forced to let their player go. Undisclosed at this time, the transfer fee is thought to be somewhere between 4 and 6 million euros.

This Monday, Boukari will have to undergo the traditional medical before signing his contract. He will then join his new team-mates for the return to training, during the camp planned this week. He could play his first game in the Stade Rennes shirt during the last 32 Coupe de France game planned next Sunday.
