Shortly after Samuel Souprayen, Yacine Brahimi and Tongo Hamed Doumbia, the Stade Rennais extended the contract of another of them best youngsters, Yann M’Vila, until 2014. The midfielder had already extended his contract in September. A way for the Stade Rennais to show their attachment to the 2009-2010 season’s revelation, just selected for the second time with France.
Called up in the national squad for the first time for the friendly against Norway, on August 11th, the Rennes midfielder revealed himself to all French football fans. Since a year, Yann M’Vila has been through a dazzling evolution of his professional career, launched in 2007 when he signed his first contract.
During his first two seasons as a professional, M’Vila became essential in the Reserve team (CFA). Excelling at ball recovery and to organise the game, he used great technical skills and outstanding strength to bring the danger forwards. During summer 2009, when most of his 1990 born teammates were loaned in Ligue 2 clubs, Yann M’Vila remained in Rennes and joined the professional squad.
In August 2009, he received his first call with France U21. Soon, in the Ligue 1’s second gameweek, he took profit of Junichi Inamoto’s sending off to make his first appearance in Ligue 1. The following week, the Rennes coach decided to trust M’Vila again, in Rennes against Marseille. Without any doubts against M’Bia, Cheyrou and pals, he managed 90 brilliant minutes at midfield.
Soon a favourite at the Stade de la Route de Lorient, M’Vila went on to realise a high standard season in Ligue 1 and become one of the best young players in the league. Taking full profit of the sanctions against the French squad present at the 2010 World Cup, M’Vila discovered the highest level with the “ A’ ” France national squad called up by Blanc for the game in Norway, and received his first cap and start with France.
As he prepares for a second cap, M’Vila has been offered a further contract extension for one additional season this Thursday. Pierre Dréossi, profiting of the player’s second selection to announce the deal, wishes to show all the attachment from the Stade Rennais to their player, whose value increased dramatically during this summer transfer window.
After a first extension in September 2009 (until 2013), Yann M’Vila is now tied to the Stade Rennais until June 2014.
