A first-choice substitutes since several seasons, Romain Danzé is expect to enter the starting eleven as a right back this year… if Rod Fanni’s transfer is completed. Interviewed on So Foot’s website, the Breton is clear on his desire to play. And he warns he will leave if he isn’t given the chance.
While Romain Danzé has never been considered as a key starter in Rennes, the Douarnenez man was always a first choice substitute. A status acquired mainly through his versatility, which allowed him to get 36 starts in Ligue 1 over the last two seasons.
With Rod Fanni’s expected departure this summer, Danzé his logically expected to become the first choice as a right back. The player has even been given guarantees by the staff. «The situation was clearly stated at the end of last season», the Finisterian explains in an interview to So Foot. However, Fanni’s transfer to Atletico Madrid remains on a standstill. «I don’t talk about it too much with him but I hope it will get in order. To everyone’s benefit».
«If he was to stay, I would have to go. Nothing personal, but I want to play. Well, I may not go, I’m not deciding on my own, I need to find a club that wants me, and see if Rennes let me go», continues Danzé, 24, who now aspires to play a «full season».
