Aged only 20, Yann M'Vila experienced his first start as a French full international on wednesday night, against Norway (2-1). Successful beginnings for Rennes' midfielder, included in the list of 30 for the World Cup in South Africa by former coach Raymond Domenech but eventually sidelined from the group of 23. Press Overview:

Football365 crowns him “Man of the Match” for the french side, and grants him a mark of 7/10. “A hazardous lost ball at the end of the first half, but for the rest what a start! A strong defensive presence, good at recovering the ball notably with intelligent tackles, he also was very accurate in his forward passes. He definitely paved his way to a starting spot in the future, and was obviously at the origin of Ben Arfa’s goal by creating space for himself in the center of the field before serving the Marseille player.”, wrote Football365.

On their website, France Football
dedicated a whole article to the performance of Rennes’ midfielder. “Yann M’Vila simply burst out. Tireless for more than 70 minutes, the Breton midfielder simply made a big impression Wednesday night against Norway (2-1). It appears actually easier to understand why he was this close to going to South Africa and take part in the World Cup.”, writes francefootball.fr with enthusiasm. “Rennes’ player was always good in his passing choices. A simple game, well organised, passing in the feet, exactly what Laurent Blanc had asked for. Without forgetting, that he was at the origin of Ben Arfa’s goal after the break. It is certain that with this exemplary attitude and his availability on the field, M’vila gained some serious points. A successful first selection, which will certainly not remain as the only one.

- Like Football365, Maxifoot designated M’Vila as the “Man of the Match”. “The young France midfielder has no doubts. He showed a calm gesture in the ’tricolore’ midfield by scavenging numerous balls. His passes and space openings did wonders for the french opportunities. He certainly earned points during this game.”, Maxifoot states.

- For Le Monde , «M’Vila proved he has what it takes for the international level. While recovering the ball with energy, the 20 year old prodigy also built the french breakthroughs with care.». The website of sports newspaper L’Équipe also upholds that the player from Stade Rennais “showed beautiful promises”, whereas SO FOOT outlines a M’Vila “Biting at recovering the ball, useful at forward passing”. “The Rennes player showed an impression of ease for his first selection. And He’s only 20!”, adds So Foot, which awards him a mark of 7 out of 10, the best score among the “tricolores”.
