An introduction to the Stade Rennais Academy, best Football Academy in France for the fourth year in a row.
Founded in 1977, under the initiative of Rennes mayor, Edmond Hervé, the Stade Rennais FC Academy really developed from 1987, with the creation of the Odorico Private Technical School. Managed since that year by Patrick Rampillon, it has gone on to be awarded the title of best Football Academy in France in 2005-2006. The Academy has seen the emergences of such players as Sylvain Wiltord, Mikaël Silvestre, Ousmane Dabo, Anthony Réveillère or, more recently, Étienne Didot, Jacques Faty, Grégory Bourillon and Yoann Gourcuff.
The Stade Rennais FC Academy has been awarded the title of best Academy in France for the last four seasons: 2005-2006, 2006-2007, 2007-2008 and 2008-2009.
- The Stade Rennais dedicates about 10% of its budget to the Academy and youth training, about 4 million Euros.
- 22 teachers are in charge of the young players’ studies, in reduced classes of 1 to 8 students. The average success rate on exams is 75%.
