The Stade Rennais Football Club has officially announced the transfer of Abdoul Camara to Sochaux. The duration of the contract offered to the U21 international, also coveted by Valenciennes, Saint-Étienne and Brest, hasn’t been disclosed.
As we revealed, Camara had been dropped out of the professional squad by Frédéric Antonetti at the beginning of last week following – notably – his behaviour in the dressing room during the defeat against Montpellier in Ligue 1 (4-0) when he had been replaced at half time. The Corsican manager had then explained that he wouldn’t oppose the departure of the young left winger (21 y/o).
A Gambardella Cup winner in 2008, Abdoul Camara played his first minutes with the pros at the Stade Vélodrome, during the final game week of the 2008-2009 season (defeat 4-0). Loaned to Vannes the following season, he started five games in Ligue 1 with the “Rouge et Noir” in 2010-2011, for 24 matches played in total. In that season, he scored his only goal with the Stade Rennais, during the Breton’s club large victory against Cannes (7-0).
