As expected, Chris Mavinga committed with Stade Rennes this Tuesday. The left back signed a four-year contract for the Breton club.
One year before the end of his contract at Liverpool, the young defender decided to accept the proposition of the Stade Rennais in order to try and launch his career in France. Probably put in competition with Kévin Théophile-Catherine on the left flank, he will wear the number 3 in the Rennes squad.
Questioned by France Football this Tuesday, the new Rennes player affirmed that it was “time for [him] to show what [he] really is able to do on long term”, in a league of a higher level than the Belgian Championship, where he was loaned during the last six months.
Mavinga will not immediately join the Rennes squad, since he is now preparing for the U20 World Cup with France. After this competition, the young player will finally settle down in Rennes.
