As announced at the time of his sportive retirement, Mickaël Pagis will join the Stade Rennes staff as a coach. The club announced it this Thursday on its official website.

The former “Rouge et Noir” striker will try to get his coaching certification. He will prepare by working alongside Laurent Huard on Thursdays with the Reserve team.

As for Laurent Huard, he will work to receive the Professional football coach diploma (DEPF) at the end of a training course to be completed in 2012.

Before him, Landry Chauvin had obtained this certification while being in position as the Reserve coach and later Pierre Dréossi’s assistant-manager. This diploma would allow Laurent Huard to coach a Ligue 1 or Ligue 2 club in the future.

He will be trained along former Rennes players Patrice Carteron (now the manager of Dijon), Olivier Echouafni and Jean-Luc Vasseur (U17 coach at Paris Saint-Germain). Other well-known names are taking the course, including Sabri Lamouchi, Christophe Galtier, Michel Estevan, Rémi Garde or Arnaud Cormier.
