There is no doubt anymore, Bira Dembélé and Prince Oniangue are on their way out from Rennes. Not included in Frédéric Antonetti’s squad for the three day training camp in Ouistreham last Wednesday, both players were invited to join Laurent Huard’s Reserve for a friendly against Granville. This Sunday, they remained on the bench during the game between Saint-Malo (CFA2), along with youngsters Gaëtan Caro, Vincent Dorel and Quentin Rouger.
It seems Rennes is definitely looking for an exit solution for his two young players trained at the club, and loaned last season. Last week, Tours 9Ligue 2) had approached Rennes to recruit Oniangue on a loan, but Tours is thought to have faced a strict refusal from the Stade Rennais, requesting a full transfer for their defensive midfielder.
As for Dembélé, Boulogne-sur-Mer was interested in keeping the young defender at the beginning of the summer transfer widow, after he was played to the Nord team last season. For unknown reasons, negotiations failed to reach an agreement. It is not unlikely that the stumbling point could have been the same as with Tours a few days ago. Let’s remind that both players are contracted to Rennes until June 2011, and will be free in just a year.
