Yann M’Vila : “We can achieve something big”
Publié le 28 January 2012 à 19h26 byBefore the reception of Marseille on Sunday, Yann M’Vila, the Stade Rennais international is in great form. With the Rouge et Noir, he targets the third place in Ligue 1 and vows to win the Coupe de France “and enter in the club’s history”.
Yann M’Vila is at least leading one standing in France, the number of balls played. Having started every game in Ligue 1, the French international has touched the ball 1467 times, preceding Paris SG’s Nenê and Lille’s Balmont. Since January, he shines in the Rennes midfield. “I feel great, he recognised this Friday before the game against Marseille. I finish the games a bit better. To play only once a week allows me to get some energy back in and to rest.”
"No pressure at all" against OM
The cornerstone of the team at only 21, he attempted and scored the fifth and final Rennes penalty in Nice. He was present in front of the press before Sunday’s game against Marseille, sixth in Ligue 1. “We may be young but we have got no pressure at all, he announces. We will play against Marseille, who haven’t lost since ten games. We know how to get in the game and what we need to do”. “A win would allow us to be stronger mentally, he imagines. If we were to lose, I don’t think it would bring us down afterwards, since there are a lot of games left.”
"Now, we are very ambitious"
Yann M’Vila swears he doesn’t think about next season and a possible transfer. “At the moment, I have never said I was going to leave. This question should not be asked.” Main objective for him and his team-mates: “to disturb the hierarchy”. “We try to get as high as possible, to reach third place and qualify for the Champion’s league. (…) We know we have the team to achieve something big this year. We will have to be consistent and not to lose contact. » The arrival of Mevlut Erding has reinforced his feeling of confidence. “We already had ambitions, now we are very ambitious.” And he is hoping for a Coupe de France victory. “To win the cup is an objective for us, in order to step in the club’s history. In fact, all the club is missing is a trophy. We hope to make it happen as soon as this season”.
