Antonetti : “I spoke to Erding on the phone”
Publié le 18 January 2012 à 23h47 Stade Rennais OnlineInvited to talk on air at RMC, Frédéric Antonetti was brought to comment the winter transfer window. A “quiet” month of January according to the Rennes manager, which the Rouge et Noir didn’t contribute to make any livelier.
While no major transfer is expected in terms of departures, the possibility of reinforcements arriving before January 31st is not excluded. “We won’t make a move just to make a move”, Antonetti tempered, as his current squad could be sufficient to him. At the moment, the situation remains unchanged, a possible recruitment should mandatorily “bring added value”.
Questioned about the case of Mevlüt Erding, Antonetti confirmed that he is still interested in the player, who therefore fits in the category of wanted players. “I spoke to him on the phone, he is in reflexion», the Rennes manager affirmed, adding that now, “the ball is in his camp”, and in Paris Saint Germain’s. By all means, “we want him, we have been making our intentions clear for a long time», Antonetti adds.
Finally, talking about M’Vila who will be allowed to leave next summer, Antonetti doesn’t exclude the possibility to see him remain for another season, even though this would be complicated. “This will depend on the offers, on our final ranking”, the Rennes manager hopes, while recognising that M’Vila “is destined to leave” soon in a top European club.
With this in mind, Stade Rennes is therefore « in reflexion about his replacement”, even though he can already rely on players such as «Doumbia, or Pajot». According to his manager, M’Vila has “reached a new level this season”, despite a “difficult period in October”: “he brings even more to the attacking side”, Antonetti assures.
