Carrasso loaned to Monaco for a year
Publié le 19 July 2011 à 23h05 Stade Rennais OnlineBesides the signature of Chris Mavinga, Stade Rennes have also made the loan (with or without a purchase option?) of Johann Carrasso to AS Monaco official. Over the last hours, his name came back more and more in the Principality to replace Stéphane Ruffier, transferred to Saint-Etienne, and gain some play time.
Last year, the French U21 international had been recruited as a « number one bis » and put in competition with Nicolas Douchez, who came out of a disappointing 2009-2010 season. However, because of Douchez’ brilliant performances, the goalkeeper hierarchy wasn’t upset in Rennes and the former Montpellier keeper ended up playing no more than four competitive games with Rennes. Not enough for a young keeper who was recovering from a bad injury (sprained knee) suffered in May 2009 with Montpellier and experienced his second consecutive blank season.
With his departure, Abdoulaye Diallo becomes (as expected) the shadow of Benoît Costil. Behind him, Cheick N’Diaye is now the club’s third goalkeeper, one year before the term of his contract.
