A “Breton” recruitement?
Publié le 18 May 2011 à 23h42 Stade Rennais OnlineFollowing recruitment mainly focused on physical ability last summer, is Stade Rennes about to give its mercato a regional flavour? Before the 2011-2012 season, the club seems to be interested in several Breton players, including two trained at the club.
According to our information, Stade Rennes is said to be in talks with FC Lorient for the transfer of Morbihan-born Jérémy Morel (27 y/o). A left-footed defender, he has the profile described by Frédéric Antonetti yesterday (read before). Born in Lorient, Morel has only played with the Merlus since the beginning of his career. He is now the club’s vice-captain behind Fabien Audard, with over 150 Ligue 1 games under his belt.
The left back had already expressed his wish to leave Lorient last summer, with only one year left on his contract. Although he finally signed a new contract until 2014 last January, the operation’s only goal was to allow FC Lorient to receive a transfer fee.
As well as Cotes d’Armor born Julien Féret (28 y/o), whose transfer from Nancy to Rennes is still being negotiated, another former player from the Academy could return to Brittany.
It is Gaël Danic (29 y/o) who has just experienced in Valenciennes one of his best seasons, if not the best in his career so far (9 goals, 6 assists). Just as Féret, the Vannes-man has remained much attached to his first club, and would probably welcome a return to Rennes. His profile, however, doesn’t seem to convince everyone in the club’s management.
