Transfers : Verhoek targeted, but too expensive for the moment
Publié le 18 January 2011 à 18h45 Stade Rennais OnlineAt the end of last week, Pierre Dréossi travelled to the Netherlands to try and recruit a forward, whose name had remained unknown at the time. The ideal profile? A striker, rather young with a good potential for improvement, who could replace Montaño when needed.
« Monitored closely » by the Stade Rennais according to football365.fr, the striker targeted is indeed Dutchman John Verhoek. A tall (1.88m), young player (he will be 22 in March), Verhoek plays in the Dutch second division at the moment, were he revealed himself last season with Dordrecht, scoring 7 goals in 31 games, but only started 21 matches.
Recruited by another D2 team, Den Bosch, Verhoek confirmed his goalscoring ability in the early season by scoring no less than 10 goals in 16 matchs (15 starts) and delivering three assists. A very good total, in a team stuck in its league‘s mid-table.
At this moment however, the arrival of the young striker in Brittany is far from granted. According to our information, Den Bosch’s request in terms of transfer fee could prove a stumbling block, as the demand is far too high to satisfy the Stade Rennes management.
