Transfers: The rumour Adiyiah
Publié le 11 January 2011 à 00h04 Stade Rennais OnlineSince several weeks, Pierre Dréossi has mentioned the possible arrival of a striker playing outside France. Talking to Ouest-France on December 24th, the general manager talked about a “young player, very promising, who would sign immediately but could arrive only in June. Last Tuesday on RMC, Dréossi gave a few more details, talking about a player from abroad, whose arrival in January would probably not be possible « because of the regulations », without saying much more.
Since then, speculation has been going on about the identity of the young attacking player. According to the journalists gathered on air at France Bleu Armorique this Monday, the player would be Ghanaian starlet Dominic Adiyiah.
Aged 21, Adiyiah is contracted to Milan since January 2010. Never used by Leonardo during the second half of the 2009-2010 season, he was loaned out to Reggina in the Serie B this season, scoring two goals in thirteen games since the end of August.
A few days ago, Italian and Ghanaian media announced a possible return of Adiyiah to Milan, caused in some versions by financial differences between both Italian clubs, in other by the reduced playing time offered to the striker, often a substitute, which could be the question of regulations mentioned by Rennes’ general manager.
It seems, however, that Adiyiah has now returned in the Reggina’s professional squad at his return from holidays last week.
A Ghanaian international, Adiyiah took part in the African Cup of Nations and the World Cup in 2010. In 2009, he won the U20 World Cup, snatching the awards for best player and best goal scorer in the process, succeeding to players such as Sergio Agüero and Lionel Messi.
