Transfers: Gyan drifts away from Fenerbahçe
Publié le 7 August 2010 à 18h11 Stade Rennais OnlineAs time goes by, Asamoah Gyan’s departure to Istanbul seems less and less likely to happen. Knocked out of the Champions League, Fenerbahçe doesn’t seem as eager to sign the Rennes striker as they were, mainly for financial reasons.
While Rennes had set a deadline on Friday, the Turks failed to send an improved offer and satisfy Rennes’ requirement of a 18 million euro fee for Gyan. The club is also said to have switched priorities for Marseille’s Mamadou Niang, a less expensive target for the Istanbul based team.
Reportedly happy at the idea to making a big profit, it seems that Rennes will have to wait before they sell their Ghanaian international, who was bought from Udinese for 8.5 million two years ago. The transfer window remains open until August 31st however, and a few English clubs are still likely to make a move on Gyan.
