Transfers, Fanni: “I’m sitting on the fence”

While his departure is expected to arrive at any time since the summer transfer market opened, Rod Fanni is still to find out about his future. Willing to recruit the player since several months, Atletico Madrid have still not managed to agree with Rennes’ management on the French international’s transfer conditions.

Speaking to L’Équipe, he admitted his embarrassment towards this situation, only days from the Ligue 1 restart: “Somehow, I’m sitting on the fence. I feel like I’m not part of the plans, but I still feel like the coach counts on me”, explained the player expected to start along Kader Mangane in central defence, this Saturday against Lille.

Still ready to leave Fanni repeated his desire to join the “Colchoneros” for the next season, but remains serene about his situation: “The Atletico Madrid’s project interested me, and it still does. But as I’ve always said, I’m in a good team, so there is no frustration”, he concedes.
